NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--December 9, 1999--Three of Wall Street's leading fixed-income dealers - Goldman Sachs & Co., Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Salomon Smith Barney - today announced their participation in "Bond Hub," an Internet portal built by Communicator Inc. to give institutional investors commingled, seamless access to the dealers' bond market information.

The more than 5,000 institutional investors with access to the proprietary web sites of the participating firms now have access to Bond Hub, a value-added service provided at no cost to investors. With a single sign-on, Bond Hub users gain the benefit of:
  • Seamless navigation between participating dealers' sites, saving valuable time for fixed-income institutional investors.
  • Price indications on all fixed-income instruments offered by participating dealers.
  • Consolidated headlines on research and market commentary produced by the dealer participants.
  • Ability to search all participating dealers' research.
  • Messaging and e-mail functionality for all registered users.
Bond Hub was developed to provide customers of the individual dealers with a single sign-on and commingled content, but without the associated information overload. Clients with password-protected access to two or more of the individual dealer sites - known respectively as Goldman Sachs' Financial Workbench, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter's Client Link, and Salomon Smith Barney Direct - now have direct access to Bond Hub. These clients are automatically given access to Bond Hub when they go to any of the dealer sites. The dealers will continue to maintain their individual sites while Bond Hub aggregates information from each site on its portal site.

Steve Bowman, Managing Director of Global Fixed Income Sales and Research at Salomon Smith Barney, said: "We were an early and enthusiastic supporter of the Bond Hub concept because it enables our customers to quickly and easily access the best bond market information available."

Said Ken deRegt, Worldwide Head of Fixed Income at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter: "We're excited about the efficiencies that Bond Hub will provide to our customers."

Vic Simone, Managing Director, E-Commerce at Goldman Sachs, added: "The hub commingled solution exponentially boosts clients access to content and accordingly, helps both the buyers and sellers take advantage of the growing opportunities in electronic commerce."

Bond Hub was built and is operated by Communicator Inc., whose business-to-business e-commerce infrastructure enables leaders in vertical markets to extend their service and brand names. By serving as a trusted third party, Communicator Inc. allows market leaders to commingle their proprietary content and services without compromising their existing distribution channels.

"Bond Hub is a powerful product that will increase efficiency and productivity across the fixed income markets," said Leo Schlinkert, CEO of Communicator Inc. and former longtime Managing Director and creator of Salomon Smith Barney's fixed income e-commerce efforts. "The top-tier dealers participating in Bond Hub benefit from increased interaction with their customers, and institutional fixed-income investors will save time and energy that can be utilized in making investment decisions."

Schlinkert said a small number of additional dealers have been invited to participate in Bond Hub, which also will be integrating independent third party content providers into its service.
